"God of power, look upon these servants, as they deepen their understanding of the Gospel. Grant that they may come to know and love you and always heed your will with receptive minds and generous hearts. Teach them through this time of preparation and enfold them within your Church, so that they may share your holy mysteries both on earth and in heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen"
Blessings of the Catechumens and Candidates, RCIA text, |

Rite of Christian Initiation
The RCIA is a series of sessions, a spiritual journey for non-Catholics wishing to explore the faith of the Catholic Church community. Persons inquiring are welcomed and a sponsor is chosen to represent the community. The rites are ancient rituals as set points along the journey for the community to give witness and welcome to these catechumens (those seeking full initiation through Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation) and the candidates (those seeking full initiation with First Communion and Confirmation). These persons are received into the Church at the Holy Saturday Vigil each year.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Children and Rite of Christian Initiation for Teens
The RCIC and RCIT are a series of class sessions, a spiritual journey for non-Catholic children and teenagers who are of catechetical age, 8 to 17 years. They will explore the Catholic Christian faith through catechetical class sessions and faith-sharing. The children and teens are received into the Church at the Holy Saturday Vigil with the sacraments of Baptism and/or First Communion and Confirmation.
